What to expect from classes

Courses at The Cook School Bewdley generally begin at 9.45am with a warm welcome, refreshments including tea, coffee, or a soft drink with home-made biscuits and an opportunity to meet your fellow students. There is ample free parking at the school and a map with directions will have been sent to you a few days prior to your course. The size of classes generally varies from 8-10 people.

At around 10am you will move into the kitchen where you will be introduced to our professional chef, given an apron to wear for the duration of the course, and recipe cards for you to take home. There will then be an introduction by our chef, who will explain the format of the day; including an overview of the dishes to be demonstrated and a short health and safety briefing.

All our courses are an interactive experience with each dish being demonstrated by our chef before being recreated by the group. Some of the dishes you will prepare on your own, some in pairs and some as a ‘team’. Our chef and an assistant will be on hand at all times, to guide you as required. 

We will supply you with containers for you to take home the food you have lovingly prepared, or please feel free to sample your dishes as you go along.

Detailed arrangements may vary, depending on the nature of the course. Fuller details are given alongside each course here. But generally, courses will follow a similar pattern to those illustrated below.


Full-Day Itinerary

During the morning our professional chef will guide you expertly through preparation of a selection of tasty dishes that you will then enjoy at lunchtime with a glass of wine or a soft drink at approximately 1pm. After lunch, you will return to the kitchen for the next exciting experience of the day. The afternoon will fly by whilst creating and presenting delicious and beautiful dishes.

Alternatively, you can work through until we sit at The Chefs Table for a later lunch, enjoying the food together in a more relaxed format. with the course coming to a close at approximately 4pm.

Half-Day Itinerary

During the course, our chef will demonstrate 3-4 dishes expertly with the opportunity for you to ask questions. Following each demonstration, it will then be your turn to recreate the dish with our chef and an assistant on hand to provide support as required.

RECIPE CARDS

For all classes, you will be given full easy to follow recipes for you to use during the course and to take home with you.
